Joseph (Joey) Green, B.S. (he/him) graduated cum laude from Arizona State University in Spring 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. Joey serves as the Director of Communications for SOGIA/EBT Center of Arizona and is passionate about the integration of science, communications, and the application of psychological theory into practice. Shortly after his undergraduate career, Joey began working with the Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. Joey’s work included supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in crisis and finding them the resources they needed to build a life worth living. Following his work with SOGIA and the other ASU psychology research labs, Joey hopes to continue his education at a graduate-level in the fall of 2023 to obtain a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.

Joey’s research interests are centered around trauma experienced by 2SLGBTQIA+ children/adolescents and the differential impact of risk and protective factors that contribute to normative development in sexual minority youth. Currently, he examines how parenting styles and practices might differ for sexual minority youth across different developmental periods. Specifically, with the goal to assess potential factors in protecting against the development of psychopathology and substance use in sexual minority youth. Joey hopes to continue this research to develop targeted parenting interventions to support 2SLGBTQIA+ youth as they navigate difficult and challenging experiences.

In his free time, Joey enjoys binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy and relaxing by the pool with friends
