Michaela (Mickie) Gusman, M.A. (she/her) is a Clinical Psychology doctoral student at Arizona State University completing her third-year clinical practicum placement at the SOGIA/EBT Center of Arizona. Mickie attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. As an undergraduate, she worked in the Catlin Pediatric Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Four Winds Hospital in New York, as well as the Walker School and Home in Massachusetts. Mickie has spent the past year of her doctoral program working as a therapist-in-training in the ASU Clinical Psychology Center (CPC), providing evidence-based individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She particularly enjoyed running a sleep therapy group for adults and socioemotional skills training groups for children and adolescents at the ASU CPC.

Mickie has also had several research experiences that have helped to inform her approach to working with clients. After graduating, she worked in a research laboratory examining perinatal effects of intergenerational trauma at Boston Children's Hospital. Currently, she examines how cultural process and identity development might protect against the negative effects of early-life trauma and adversity on physical and mental health. In Spring 2020, Mickie received an Honorable Mention from the National Science Foundation for her proposed work. Mickie is passionate about integrating empirically-based practice into therapy and working with families and individuals across the lifespan.

In her spare time, she enjoys attending live music concerts, learning languages, and exploring the greater Phoenix area with her friends and family.
